Having spent 13 years as the superintendent of schools in Morgan County, I understand the pressing need for additional revenues that the school district is currently experiencing.  Morgan is consistently in the bottom 25 percent of Utah school districts when it comes to expenditures and revenues per student.  Last school year, the district ranked 34th out of 41 when considering all expenditures as well as the daily operations budget.  With the exception of Juab School District, all other district with less money per student were much larger than Morgan (Alpine, Box Elder, Davis, Jordan, Nebo) and thus enjoy the advantages provided by the economy of scales.

Story Number three is Ken Adams as Superintendant.  Adams has long been a part of Morgan life.  He has contributed time energy and results to the education of Morgan’s Children.

After spending a great deal of time and effort searching for a new superintendent, the Board of Education decided that the most qualified candidate was already in the district.  Wednesday evening Ken Adams was named the new Superintendent of Schools for Morgan County replacing Ron Wolff who will begin serving as the superintendent in Box Elder County on July 1.

My experience as an educator spans 36 years, four school districts and two states. During this time of employment, it has been my pleasure to be associated with great students, wonderful parents and conscientious staff members. It has been said that if one chooses something he loves to do then he will never go to work for the rest of his life. There is no truer statement than this about my vocation.

This spring and early summer produced a number of changes in our administrative team.  Late in the month of May, Ron Wolff announced his intentions to step down as Superintendent.  In mid-June our beloved Morgan Elementary Principal, Laraine Whitear lost her battle to cancer.  Both individuals have left voids to be filled in our system.  The positive influence for good they have given and shared with our community will be felt for years to come.
