Collin Gibb, son of Nathan and Suzanne Gibb, is this year’s Sterling Scholar for vocal performance. His interest in music has stemmed from living in a family where music is valued and has an ever-present influence. He began playing the piano at the age of 6. His mom taught him, but after three years of lessons, he began teaching himself. At the age of 8 he received a guitar for Christmas. Since then, he has been playing and teaching others the basics of the instrument. His guitar playing is accompanied with composition of his own songs, which he performs for friends and family at local acoustic shows.

Cries of sadness could be heard all over town from the lack of Independence Day festivities.  Becky Shaw heard that call and came to the rescue.  In a single bound she picked up the heavy torch and took on the daunting task of planning an entire Fourth of July celebration in just a few weeks.
Thankfully, many people stepped up and volunteered to be her sidekicks.  You may have seen someone running around town handing out parade flyers or throwing together last-minute floats.  If you see them without their capes, please assist them with this crazy undertaking.  If you would like to enter a float in the parade, there is still time!

Chances are, most people in the community have benefited from the service, works, and influence of the Morgan Lions Club.  Through their many acts of service, sweet smiles and genuine joy have been reflected on the faces of Morgan children for many generations.  George Francis jokes that the Morgan Lions Club has been around “since the time Columbus sailed the ocean blue.” While the exact date is not known with certainty, the Morgan Lions Club has been around for a very long time, well over 80 years.  Throughout these years it has touched young and old alike. True to their motto “We serve”, the Morgan Lions Club has sponsored many of the celebrations Morgan residents have grown up with and continue to cherish with their own children and grandchildren. Lions clubs can be found serving throughout the world. In fact, they are the world’s largest service club organization. Although the parent organization is an international club, the Morgan Lions Club has been especially focused on the needs of our own community. They have structured the service they provide and activities they sponsor in a way to connect very personally with the people of Morgan.

So here is a little  history about  Morgan High’s Baseball.
Trojans  started baseball in 1948 !
This season will be  57 season for Trojan  baseball!
They hold  six  region championships  in baseball: 1951, 1956, 1961, 1966, 1969, 2009!
Their only state  baseball  championship was sixty years ago! They record was   22 wins 0 losses!
Remember who they played when  they won  that game?  The answer was South Sevier!  Morgan ranks 43rd in all time wins for baseball, according to the Utah High School Activities Association
Their  first baseball  game will be at Roy High School on March 7  at 3:30 p.m.
What was Roy’s record last season  in baseball ?   The Royals record was 11 wins 12 losses and 1 tie! Doug Johnston, the editor of The Morgan County News went to Roy High but likes Morgan more!

I am writing this at the request of my 96 yr. old mother, Vera Carter.  (She wrote for the paper for many years)

She read the article from Sid Creager about his leaving the Council, he cited one line of the ‘School Song’.

It brought back many memories of her days attending Morgan High and also teaching there.

It is her request that you print the whole song.  “Maybe there are others that would enjoy ‘remembering’.

Thanks for your consideration.
