Morgan has had a strong legacy of outstanding wrestlers.  Throughout the last five decades, Morgan has produced its share of state champions.  One particular family has wrestling success running through their blood.  The Pentz family has earned its way onto the podium throughout generations and this last weekend, five cousins wrestled their way to the top.

On a soggy Wednesday afternoon the Morgan Trojans hosted Park City and Union in an exciting cross country meet. Morgan’s home course overlays the beautiful fairways of the Round Valley Golf Course with a magnificent mountain backdrop. A big thank you goes to the golf course caretakers, owners and personnel who so graciously offer their grounds for training and competition.

I was quite disappointed in how some of our county members acted and behaved due to Leeway voting on both sides of this issue. I am aware of several instances where members were out of hand, yelling, swearing, and name calling because someone didn’t agree with them. There were also a number of cases of sign stealing. Both of these issues have to do with our first amendment rights. If we expect our own freedom of speech we must allow and respect that of others even if we don’t agree. We can talk about these things civilly like the adults we should be. Taking of signs is also an infringement on this amendment. Another problem we encounter is accusing people without proof for such deeds. We have never been and should never be a “guilty until proven innocent” society. If we continue to have this type of attitude in a number of years we will not have a republic because some won’t tolerate the views of others.

As I contemplate my six children and 12 grandchildren, I wonder at times what would happen if my wife and I were thrust into the role of raising one or more of our grandchildren. In a perfect world, parents raise their children in their own homes and grandparents have the privilege and joy of spoiling their grandchildren—and then sending them back home to their parents.  Well, it’s not a perfect world that we live in, and more and more grandparents find themselves in the position of part-time, temporary, full-time, or permanent primary caregivers and/or guardians for their grandchildren.

The holidays are filled with fun and tradition wherever you go, but very few communities have such a wide array of things you can participate in for free.   The city, local businesses and community members all pitch in to make sure that there are plenty of holiday memories made right here at home.

On January 17, 2012 the Morgan High Cheer leaders traveled to Timpview High school to participate in the Utah Cheer Coaches Association State Championship. The cheerleaders work hard all year and look forward to the competition. Morgan also won the state title in 2008 and 2011. This year Morgan beat out a tough team from Desert Hills for the title. The girls were thrilled and surprised because their coach Tammy Bullock had just talked to them about being good sports if they did not win.

This season has been the best I have seen these boys play with their hearts.  As this season comes to an end, we see the tears of dedication and of sacrifice come to a halt.  The last region game against the Spanish Fork Don’s was a hard loss at 20 to 35. However it was fought well and the Morgan Varsity football made some very strategic plays and grew together in trusting each other, trusting the coaches, and showing unity as a team. Spanish Fork commented that this game and playing against the Morgan Trojans, was the toughest game they have played against all year.

Often when a teacher tells students about a new concept, the student has a hard time remembering what they heard.  When a teacher explains the new concept and demonstrates the concept, there is a greater probability that the concept will stick with the student.
