Earl and Carole have lived in Mountain Green for 43 years.  They moved here when Earl received a job offer from Weber State University and have been here ever since.

Earl was born in SE Nebraska on a farm.  Literally.  They didn’t have a telephone, so his Dad had to hitch up a team of horses to make contact with anyone.

The Eccles Community Art Center, 2580 Jefferson Avenue, Ogden will exhibit the recent works of local artist, David W. Jackson of Mt. Green in the Main Gallery, November 4-29. The Carriage House Gallery will feature local artists with an Artist Invitational/Holiday Boutique exhibit through December. An opening reception for the Jackson exhibit and an evening of holiday shopping in the Carriage House Gallery is planned for Friday, November 4, 2011 from 5 to 8 p.m.

The Dan and Mandy Glick family moved to Morgan early this year in February and their hearts are set on staying.  Dan Glick, who is originally from Morgan, retires from the military in two years and says that it’ll be nice to have some stability.  So, naturally, this is the place to be.

Chaplain Berge A. Hoogasian departed Earth for his home in heaven this week.  He died of natural causes at the age of 87.   A born again Christian and Baptist Minister, Chaplain Hoogasian led a distinguished military career spanning several decades of service.  He began his service as an Army Private in the infantry in World War II in Europe.

It was a beautiful, sunny day at the airport as the day began with a pancake breakfast.  The theme was World War II.  There were vehicles and displays of aircraft on hand with many interesting items for both children and adults.  There was also anticipation in the air for the guests who would soon arrive.  Once breakfast was complete there was a flag ceremony conducted by the American Legion.

Browning has been a significant part of Morgan County since they relocated their headquarters here in 1964.  Many individuals do not know, however, the significance of the contributions of John M. Browning to Utah and United States History.  The Utah legislature is recognizing his significant contributions by designating Jan 24, 2011 as John M. Browning Day.

The United States began as a relationship between the colonies that later became states.  In the beginning, this relationship was one of a loose confederation primarily to fight the war of Independence.  Once the Constitution replaced the Articles of Confederation, the entity we now know as the United States came into existence.  Even with this change the states retained much of their authority and responsibility.
