The Morgan County Council has made moves to have the Utah State Second District Court take over funding and administration of its Morgan County location.  Now, the county will not have to pay for an employee to function as the Second District Court clerk in the county clerk’s office.

As one Mountain Green couple is finding out, it can be difficult getting a business license in Morgan County.

As one Mountain Green couple is finding out, it can be difficult getting a business license in Morgan County.
“The county’s intentions are great, but it is not opening businesses,” said Kera Birkeland. “I believe that in our poor economy, things need to improve in Morgan County to help small business, not hinder it.”

A mark of progress and care for our U.S. Soldiers and Veterans again came to light as the official dedication of the Salt Lake Fisher House opened its doors Feb. 29 for the public to view in the ribbon cutting ceremony for this new facility. The Fisher House will be a huge benefit to any military and their family who have to travel a distance from the 5 states the VA hospital encompasses. (Including Utah, Wyoming, Montana, Nevada, and Idaho).

Jeff Wardell was appointed to the Morgan City Council on July 28, 2009 to fill the vacant seat left by the resignation of Dave Larsen after he moved to Mountain Green.  Wardell is a lifetime resident of Morgan.  He was born here and went to school here.  He married his high school sweetheart from Morgan and raised three daughters here.  He has deep roots in the community and a love for the City and County.  Wardell says, “It’s peaceful.  I love driving up to Morgan from the mouth of the canyon every evening … it’s beautiful.”

A lively discussion was held at council meeting surrounding proposed actions to mitigate flooding.  After a meeting with County Emergency Manager, Terry Turner, and Weber Basin Water a number of individuals including county council members Kilmer and Kippen and Council Chairman Kelley met with state officials and representatives of the Army Corp. of Engineers to determine next steps.
