Last week the Morgan High School cross country team competed in two separate events. On Wednesday, Aug. 28, the Trojans embarked on the long trek to Roosevelt to compete against five other schools in a traditional 5K format. It became a race to the starting line for the Morgan athletes. The school bus had broken down in Summit County, causing significant delays for the team and potentially jeopardizing their ability to compete. Runners from the other schools had been warming up on the course and were gathered at the starting line ready to race.

The Morgan High School Cross Country Team started out with a bang at the Premiere Invite held Saturday, Aug. 17 in Tooele.  With just a few weeks of practices under their belt, students loaded the bus ready to compete.  Coming off a couple years of inconsistency having had multiple coaches, the cross country team has a new coach, Brennan Fuller, who is ready to help them succeed.  Coach Fuller is a newer addition to Morgan High School and is excited to establish a program for the students that will help them make and achieve their goals.

Another beautiful weather day greeted the track athletes as they unloaded the buses at Stansbury High School to compete for the Region XI Track and Field Championship.  The two day meet is always exciting as it brings to a close the months of hard work and training that the athletes have extended to be ready to battle for the region trophy.  The first day of running events are all trials except for the 1600m.  The top 8 times in each event are brought back on the second day for a one heat final.  Field events are competed on both days with finals taking place on each day in each event.  Athletes work very hard to qualify the first day for the finals on the second day.   The top four places in each event qualify for the state meet including relays.
