The Morgan High Trojans were such underdogs against Judge Memorial, that Judge were not ready for the Trojans great teamwork on both sides of the ball.
The first score of the game came at the 3:43 mark with Judge kicker Pat Giggs kicking a 37 yard field goal.
Lantzen Toomer, Sophomore, had 2 fantastic tackles against Box Elder high last week. One of those tackles caused the fumble that co-athlete of the week, Robbie Nelson recovered. The fumble came when the momentum of the game was starting to turn away from Morgan.
Robbie Nelson, Senior, had an outstanding game against Box Elder. Robbie rushed for an average of 27 yards per carry, had a 20 yard reception leading to a TD, a fumble recovery from co-athlete of the week, Lantzen Toomer’s tackle, 4 defensive tackles of his own, and last but not least; on a kick-off he kicked the ball through the uprights!
Ashlee Gallen, Junior, had a fantastic game against Bear River in Varsity Volleyball last week. Ashlee had 32 set assists, 15 service points, and 6 aces. Morgan’s volleyball team is ranked number 1 in the state with play-offs coming October 28 & 29th.
Chelsey Stegelmeier, Senior, had a great game even though the girls soccer team was met with a loss. As Morgan met Juan Deigo in the first round of the play-off’s, Chelsey was the ONLY thing between them and all the extreme shots taken against her. She stopped all but 5 of these shots.
Syracuse – Visit Antelope Island State Park and witness a western roundup from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, October 29 and if necessary, Saturday, October 30. (In previous years, most bison are moved the first day.) This annual event is an opportunity to view one of the nation’s largest and oldest public herds as horseback riders move the bison from the southern tip of the island, to the handling facility located at the park’s northern end.
When Morgan headed to Ogden to play Ben Lomond last week, Ben Lomond was 0-7 and Morgan with their 6-2 record was ready to work on all aspects of their game. Morgan has looked great at times during the season and not so great at other times. In this game, Morgan looked superb on both sides of the ball.
After a fairly easy win at Juan Diego High School last Thursday(Oct. 7th), the Lady Trojans headed for Highland High School on Friday to try to bring home another trophy. The team had three matches on Friday, going against first Tooele, then American Fork, and finally Park City.
It was Senior night for the Morgan girls soccer team on Oct. 5th, as the team played their last home game of the season against the Ben Lomond Lady Scots. It was also the final home game in the careers of the 5 seniors who have suited up for the Trojans for 4 years.
The Grantsville football team showed up at Trojan Field and even before the game started, things happened between players. The Cowboys went through the Trojan warmups,. At the time it was thought that it wsa on purpose and reported in other newspapers, but after talking with Superintendent Adams, he explained that it was talked between school officials and sorted out even before kickoff.
After an enjoyable win on the 22nd at Bear River, a very excited group of Varsity players and coaches boarded the plane Thursday morning to travel to Southern California and compete in the California Volleyball Tournament.
Chelsea Fairbourn, Senior soccer player (see photo on the left), scored both goals in varsity girls soccer in the 3-2 loss against Bear River on Tuesday of last week and then she scored 2 goals off of headers in our 10-0 shut out against Grantsville.
The Morgan girls soccer team took to the road to play the defending 3A champs Juan Diego on Sept. 28th. It was a match-up of last seasons state finals played at Rio Tinto stadium, and as the first time the two teams played this season, Juan Diego came out on top by a score of 5-1.
Dallin "Leroy" Schenk, Senior, had a impressive game against Juan Diego. Even with the loss, Dallin lead the defensive to keep the Soaring Eagles rushing yards to under 130 for the entire game. The least amount of any game Juan Diego has played so far. Dallin had some crucial tackles and the defensive line had a great game.
Don’t let the first two weeks of the duck hunt fool you -- plenty of ducks will wing their way through Utah’s marshes this season.
Despite good water conditions, the number of ducks that nested on marshes near the Great Salt Lake last spring was down 30 percent from 2009.
Ashley "Spud" Garfield, Morgan High Senior, had an incredible match last week. Spud's stats last week; 16 kills, 4 solo blocks, 5 block assists, 9 service points and 6 digs against Judge Memorial helping the Lady Trojans to win all three games easily.
Lawson Toomer, Morgan High senior, had an outstanding game against Salem Hills last week. He scored four touchdowns for Morgan and had 190 rushing yards. He helped his Trojans to a 40-12 victory over the Skyhawks.
I predict Morgan will beat 3A Defending Champions, the Juan Diego Soaring Eagles on Friday, Sept 17, 2010 at Trojan Field. This game will be Morgan Highs Homecoming game!

Syracuse – Antelope Island State Park hosts the 24th Annual Bison Roundup and Range Ride Friday, October 29 and Saturday, October 30. Horsemen and women interested in participating in the range ride must register by Friday, October 22. All registration documents are available online at stateparks.utah.gov.
Senior Robbie Nelson had an outstanding varsity football game against Wasatch. He returned a 86 yard kick return for a touchdown, and kicked 346 total yards. Robbie helped Morgan stomp Wasatch with a 49-15 victory.
Robbie's parents are Brandon and Karen Nelson. He says when he is not playing sports he is babysitting an doing EVERYTHING his parents tell him to do.

Senior, AJ Bateman had a fantastic game against Grantsville last week. AJ scored 2 goals for the lady Trojans, one goal was a header. Morgan shut out Grantsville 10-0.
AJ is the daughter of Bill & Gaylene Bateman and when she is not playing sports, likes to sing and hang out with her friends.

The Morgan girls soccer team opened Region 11 play on Thursday September 2nd in dominating fashion, beating Grantsville by a score of 10-0 on the Cowgirls home field. The Trojans scored early and often in the first half, opening up a quick lead and never looked back.
I think Morgan will beat the Salem Hills Shyhawks at 150 N. Skyhawk Blvd. Salem, UT 84653 on Sept 10 at 7 p.m.
