Hillarie Waller took her first bull after drawing a out a tag in the Hardscabble area. She hunted for three days with her dad and brothers before filling her tag. They had seen a large bull on the first day, but it moved over the ridge before she could get into a position for a shot. On the third day she was hunting in the same area. She came across a large group of elk in a stand of pines. She took aim and bagged this huge elk.
Monday, October 18 the Sons of the Utah Pioneers, Morgan Chapter held its monthly meeting and luncheon. At the beginning of the school year a contest was initiated with Gwen Romero and her 8th grade English Class to write an essay on My Favorite Ancestor. Over 100 essays were submitted.
Courtney Jensen will compete tonight, Friday, October 22 against 40 other contestants for the title of Miss Utah USA. She holds the title of Miss West Jordan, where she works as a hair stylist and attends Salt Lake Community College.
Chess Club will be held at the Morgan County Library every Wednesday from 5 to 6 p.m., beginning on Wednesday, November 3. Anyone interested is asked to register at the library or by calling (801) 829-3481 so that enough game boards will be available. The library is excited about offering this new program to their patrons and the community.

The annual entries from the Art Two fall art students, at the middle school, were set out and parents and teachers made the yearly selection of ten winning entries to be sent to Japan for the International Children’s Art Exhibit. This is the fifteenth year of the children’s exhibit and Morgan Middle school has been involved for the last seven years.
Valerie Kelley’s colorful and fragrant presence is well known in Morgan. No, she’s not a farmer but she definitely makes an art out of using plants, flowers, and other things grown in nature to make a living and provide a positive service to her community.
The Sons of the Utah Pioneers have placed a monument at the Riverside Park in Morgan that honors the early pioneers of Morgan County. Additonal names will be added to the nonument in the future. The dedication will take place on Monday, October 18, at 1:30 p.m. at the park. The public is invited to attend.

On Thursday, October 7 the annual Morgan County 4-H Achievement Night was held, hosted by Utah State University Extension in the Morgan County Courthouse Auditorium.
Local 4-Hers were recognized for their accomplishments in 4-H livestock, the 4-H horse program, 4-H portfolios and record books, 1st year 4-H membership, 10-year 4-H membership, TRY Team participation, and other awards.

It’s been a few weeks since the Morgan County Fair and the fair board has had some time to decompress and get reacquainted with their families. With all the work that goes into delivering the fair you would think that they would take time off to rest and relax, but the fair board is already in the thick of planning for next year.
Morgan County Single Adults ages 31+ held their first PicNic and PowWow in the Park on Sept. 7th.
The Ball is now Rolling for Morgan LDS Single Adults! It was a nice turnout for our first event. We got lots of good feedback and input for what we want to see in the Morgan Valley for our Single Adults 31+.

Harli Rees is the tiniest pageant winner in town. At one year old she has already won twelve trophies, four crowns, two banners and a plaque. Her titles include three queen titles, Mini Queen, Prettiest Eyes, Prettiest Hair, Best Attire, Most Photogenic, and Personality Plus. She is the daughter of Tucker and Misha Rees, and grand-daughter of Stan and Sue Rees and Bonnie Smith of Las Vegas.
The Morgan Fire Department would like to thank everyone for their support with this year’s Muscular Dystrophy Assosiation (MDA) Drive. The fire department collected $2576.70. This will all go to MDA for kids local.
We would especially like to thank those in the community that donated $ 100 or more for this drive. We have given those few a special MDA Tee Shirt for their support. We would like to thank Morgan Jubilee , Nebco Service and 7 Eleven for letting us use their locations with our MDA Drive. Also we would like to thank Morgan Fire Fighters that gave of their time to help collect for this year’s MDA Drive.
Starting September 2nd, Morgan County Library will be changing its after-school story hour time. Because of the new early release day for our elementary schools we will be moving our afternoon storyhour to 2:30 on Thursdays

On August 6 and 7 of 2010. Our High School years started when we were in the 7th Grade 1955 through the 12th Grade 1960. So the committee started looking for all class mates from the time we started our High School Years.
The city council held an informational meeting with county residents on Tuesday to discuss the potential of a splash pad, improvements to the playground equipment, and other improvements at Riverside Park.
Nick Wilde, son of Jamie and Dana Wilde, was chosen as one of only 40 national winners of the 2010 Pfizer Epilepsy Scholarship Award. The $2,000 scholarship can be used for tuition, fees, books, or living expenses.

One week ago, August 5 and 6, was the Morgan County Fair annual rodeo. Scheduled were the traditional competitions such as barrel racing, calf roping, and bronco busting.
The crowds were there to support and cheer them on as well.

The city has been exploring an upgrade and renovation to Riverside Park. The city would like to replace the playground equipment, add sidewalks, and renovate the bathrooms. The city is also exploring adding a splash pad.
The Morgan County Fair Royalty contest was held Monday morning August 2nd 2010. Young ladies from around the county competed for the chance to win one of the royalty positions. The girls are divided into groups according to age/grade in school. They began with personal interviews with the judges, then on to present a short speech, modeling, and answering impromptu questions. The contest then moved to the Morgan County Fairgrounds where they competed in the horsemanship portion. The winners were announced at the Junior Rodeo that night.
