Young sluggers got the chance to rub shoulders with Morgan High School baseball coaches and players last weekend at the Trojan Century Center as part of a youth baseball skills clinic. The coaches organized the clinic for players ages 8 to 14. Approximately 30 current and former players were enlisted to keep the ratio of players to instructors low and to provide more one-on-one feedback.
“Our goal is to build a successful baseball program, not merely coach a baseball team,” said varsity coach Tony Jarrett. “We wanted the clinic to be an incredibly positive experience for the younger players.”
In all, over 100 youth players attended the clinic, where they were provided instruction and drills to improve their game. Based on the substantial number of participants and the positive feedback received, the coaches will plan to organize additional clinics in the future.
