Weber State alumni singers support local fundraiser

Loydene Berg and her son, PJ, lost their home to an electrical fire last month on Sept. 4.  The home was a complete loss.  This included her Yamaha Grand Piano which had a lot of sentiment attached to it from her late father and her husband Peter, who was murdered 12 years ago at Chevy’s Restaurant in Salt Lake City.  The home was also not insured at the time of the fire, due to a suspension in the insurance coverage until a rain gutter was replaced. The work had been done, but had not been reinstated before the fire destroyed the home.
The community has rallied around the Berg family with support, clothing, temporary housing and a few fundraisers.  Another event is being sponsored by the Weber State Alumni Singers, directed by Evelyn Harris on Dec. 1, 2012 at 7 p.m.
This benefit concert has a two- fold purpose.  One is to raise money for the Berg family by selling every seat in the Morgan High School Auditorium for a minimum of $10 a seat, allowing members of the Morgan Valley to donate or gift as much as they would like for their seat.  The second purpose is to kick off the Christmas season in Morgan with a beautiful concert, “A Gift of Music”, for those generous members of the community who have supported the Berg family.   All proceeds will be donated to the family.
Tickets will be pre-sold, beginning Nov. 1, and will be sold until Nov. 30.  In Morgan, tickets will be available at the Morgan County Offices in the Office of the County Treasurer, room #3 from Bonnie Thompson.  Tickets may also be purchased from Debi Smith in Mountain Green, 801-821-0314.  This is a pre-sale only.  Tickets will not be available at the door, so please make sure to get your tickets early.
