American Legion Post 67 and VFW Post 6154 held their annual Christmas party in the Morgan County Auditorium on Wednesday evening, Dec. 4. All veterans throughout the county were invited to attend this annual get-together for pie and ice cream and be entertained by the Nelson Brother’s Band. This was a great opportunity for members of both posts and other invited veterans to come together and get to know one another during this special time of the year.
It was observed by one of our members that there were several veterans in the audience that were over 90 years old. Not to let this rare occurrence go by, it was decided to have an impromptu photo-shoot of these 90+-year-old veterans who proudly served our country during WWII and other campaigns. Throughout the country we are losing many WWII veterans who fought to defend our liberties and freedoms. This was a great opportunity we had at our Christmas party to still have these folks with us.
Seated from left to right:  Wayne Carpenter, 92 years old, served in the Air Force; Nedra Tucker Allen, 90, served in the Army Nurse Corps; Raymond McMillan, 92, served in the Army Air corps;  Lewis Frongner, 93, served in the Army; Jean Lloyd Morrison, 90, served in the Army.  Standing behind:  Paul Jeppson, 93, served in the Navy.
If in your travels around the county you happen to come upon one of these proud veterans, give them a firm handshake and a strong thank you for their service. They probably will not be with us much longer.
Here’s wishing everyone and especially our veterans a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
