Upcoming Community Event “Safety on Cell Phones and the Internet” Sponsored by Morgan Empowered

Morgan Empowered is sponsoring the upcoming Parent Awareness event, “Safety on Cell Phones and the Internet”, which will be held at the Morgan High School auditorium on Tuesday, September 28th, beginning at 6:30 pm.  Childcare services will be provided by Morgan High School’s NHS and FCCLA clubs to enable both parents (and youth based on parental discretion) to attend.  Guest speakers will be Sariah Donnahoo from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, and Chet Brookes from Northern Utah Therapy.  Parents will learn how to recognize danger signs and protect their families from pornography and internet predators.  Informational booths will be set up in the commons area by various community and ecclesiastical organizations to provide parents with additional information and support.

All parents - and grandparents! - encouraged to attend.
(Youth welcome based on parental discretion.)

• Myth vs. Fact regarding sexual abuse / exploitation
• Tactics used by offenders to gain trust by the victim
• How technology has altered our social
interaction for better or worse
• How offenders use technology for their benefit
• How to recognize danger signs in our children
• How parents can protect their children
from internet predators and pornography
