The Morgan girls soccer team opened Region 11 play on Thursday September 2nd in dominating fashion, beating Grantsville by a score of 10-0 on the Cowgirls home field.  The Trojans scored early and often in the first half, opening up a quick lead and never looked back.
Senior Becca Rees opened the scoring in the first 5 minutes of the game with a shot from directly in front of the goal and easily past the keeper. Senior Dani Poll then took a shot from distance off a short corner, striking the upper left corner of the net for a 2-0 lead. Senior AJ Bateman and Junior Kenzie Moore would combine for the next 4 goals of the half, each player scoring twice off of crosses from the wings. Freshman Laura Deru and Lizzie Stauder scored their first varsity goals to push the lead at half time to 8-0.
In the second half it was more of the same. The Grantsville squad was never able to mount much of an attack, and the Trojans had multiple scoring chances throughout the half. Senior keeper Chelsey Stegelmeier came out from between the pipes to play in the field and scored on a twisting header shot early in the second half. Junior Megan Passey finished the scoring for the Trojans. Stegelmeier and Freshman keeper Mikayla Mcdermott shared the shut out in goal.
