Tax Help Available Again This Year

Article Date:
21 January, 2011 (All day)

Need help in preparing your 2010 Income Tax Return? Once again, the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA) is available here in Morgan County free of charge for those who qualify.  The program is designed to help low-to-moderate income households (generally $49,000 or less).

The preparers will file your federal and state returns using e-file which expedites your tax refund.  By using a direct deposit into a bank account the money is made available to you even faster.

Several employees of 1st Bank in Morgan have been trained and certified to aid in tax preparation.  These community volunteers are anxious to help you file an accurate and timely return.  Some of the special areas in which they have been trained are Earned Income Tax Credit, Child Tax Credit, Itemized Deductions and 2010 Tax Law Changes.

Patrons are encouraged to schedule an appointment for consultation by Dialing 211.  Additional information regarding the VITA program can also be obtained by visiting utahtaxhelp.org.

You may also contact Anne Porter or another VITA volunteer at 1st Bank in Morgan to schedule your appointment.  The bank’s phone number is 801-829-3402.  All sessions will be held at the Morgan County Library at 50 North 100 West, Morgan, UT  84050.
