The Morgan girls soccer team played their third preseason game of the year in Logan vs the 4A Lady Grizzlies on Thursday August 19th. Although the team played well, they went down to their third defeat of the season by the score of 3-2.  Senior winger AJ Bateman started the scoring off  after intercepting a grizzly pass, firing a rocket to the upper left corner of the net to give the Trojans the early 1-0 lead. Later, Sophomore forward Megan Miner scored a great goal, getting a header into the back of the net off a nice flip throw from Senior Becca Rees.
The girls played their next game on the road again, this time in Smithfield vs highly regarded 4A Sky View on Monday August 23rd. Sky View took advantage of their team speed and passing ability, beating the Lady Trojans by a score of 5-1. The Morgan goal was scored in the 2nd half by Senior Mid-fielder Chelsea Fairborn on a nice mid-field shot from distance. The assist went to Senior AJ Bateman, who headed the ball into  space for Chelsea to gather and shoot. Senior Keeper Chelsey Stegelmeier had 9 saves, while Becca Rees took 4 Morgan shots, Chelsea Fairborn and AJ Bateman each had 2 shots on goal.
The Lady Trojans played their 5th preseason game the following night on their home field, taking on another 4A school, always tough Ogden High. The Tigers jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead and never let up, beating the home team by a score of 7-2. Morgans goals were scored in the 2nd half by Senior Becca Rees, who dribbled through the Tiger defense and slotted a nice shot past the Tiger keeper. Later Senior Chelsea Fairborn scored her 2nd goal of the year, belting a nice left-footed shot across the goal mouth,  off the far post and into the net. The home team, perhaps a little tired from the previous days Sky View game, could not keep up with the Tigers and fell to 0-5 for the season.
