Senior News for March 11, 2011

Wednesday, March 16 at 1:00 p.m. in the Morgan Senior Center we will start a free six-week workshop for people with ongoing health concerns.  The classes will be taught by Jesse Garcia from Weber Human Services and will be highly interactive with breaks and snacks as well. 

First week topics:  -difference between acute and chronic conditions    -short term distractions  -introduction of action plans.  Please fee free to join the group at any time.

Thursday, March 17:  Madeline from USU Extension will have a presentation at 12:15.  Have lunch with the group and then enjoy a very informative discussion with all.

Alice Hirai will be here to take blood pressures.  This is free for any senior.

Monday, March 21:  Join the season ticket holders to travel to Plaza Playhouse in the Terrace for the production of “Oklahoma”.  Leave at 4:45 p.m.,  stop to eat; then off to the play.

Tuesday, March 22 Happy Feet will be here for the monthly foot clinic.  Please call for reservations.  Also remember that if you are homebound, you can still receive the same services.  Get your appointments early.

Tuesday, March 22 at 7 p.m. History Class with Jay Taggart.  Jay will certainly keep your mind working with his informative sessions!  This one will be on Alexandar Hamilton and Beethoven.  Refreshments will be served.

Thursday, March 24  Beginning at 11:30 McKay-Dee Senior Care will provide free cholesterol/glucose screening to any senior over 60 years of age.  Please take advantage of these free services that keep a watch on your health.  No appointments are necessary.

Tuesday, March 29  Park City is the destination.  Come and have a fun day of shopping at the Park City Outlet Stores and then have lunch.  Enid Wilde will be team leader of the day and head the trail through the stores.  It should be a great day to get out and celebrate spring; spend some money and eat...

April 55 Alive Classes - call if you would like to attend and we will set up date with Marie Nye.

Thursday, April 7 - Emily Simmonds with Relay Utah who is a specialist on equipment for the hard of hearing or deaf seniors will present at 12:15.

Tuesday, April 19  Tulip Festival at Thanksgiving Point.  Call for information.

Big Thank You to Shirley Dickerson, our AARP specialist volunteer who completed so many taxes for folks in Morgan County.  Everyone sincerely appreciates this free service.  It’s hard to believe how many hours Shirley donates to this service.
