The race for the Morgan County Sheriff seems to be decided as Neil Porter has withdrawn from the race.  Porter contacted the county office on Tuesday and informed them he would be withdrawing from the election, and removed all of his political signs.
When contacted, Porter communicated that after further reflection he determined that he wanted to continue in his current role of Deputy Sheriff for Davis County.
Porter has been actively campaigning for many months, has advertised and attended many citizen events. He walked most of the county and had a website.
Unless something out of the ordinary happens, the new Sheriff will be Blaine Breshears.  Breshears is currently a Deputy with the Morgan County Sheriff’s office.  He is also currently serving as the Morgan Scounty School Resource Officer.  This will make seven county positions running unopposed in the election.
