After Alvin Lundgren vacated his four-year seat on the Morgan County Planning Commission, the Morgan County Council appointed Mountain Green resident David Sawyer for the remainder of his term.
Council Chairwoman Tina Kelley said Sawyer’s background in political science, government, planning and the military make him a good fit for the job.
However, the other two residents who expressed interest in the position also had their strong points as well.  Both Doug Dingman and Blair Larsen expressed interest in the position.
Sawyer said he has lived in the Rollins Ranch subdivision for about a year after returning from deployment.
“We love the Mountain Green area,” he said.  “One of my primary concerns is I’ve had is the need for commercial development in the area.”
Sawyer’s term will expire Feb. 28 of 2015 as he serves the remainder of Lundgren’s appointment.
Lundgren resigned from his position for work and personal reasons, said Ronda Kippen, Morgan County planning technician in the planning and development department.
