Obituary - William Dee Brown (“The Big Brown Bear”)

William Dee Brown, 53, died July 28, 2012 at McKay Dee Hospital of complications of cancer. Bill was born July 11, 1959, in Logan, Utah, the son of Maurell Dee and Betty Jean Marz Brown. He was raised in Morgan, Utah. He graduated from Morgan High School and attended Snow College and Weber State University. Bill married Gerri Lynne Giles on June 26, 1981 in the Logan Temple.
William served in the Wisconsin, Milwaukee Mission from 1978-1980. He was currently the bishop of the Mt. Lewis 2nd Ward. He has also served as a counselor in several bishoprics and on the high council and loved serving with the youth. Bill’s greatest loves were his family and church.
He worked for R.C. Willey Home Furnishings for 25 years. He enjoyed sports and loved the outdoors.
Bill is survived by his wife, Gerri Lynne; his daughter, NaShae Lynne; his son, Trey William, mother, Betty Jean Brown; sister, Debbie (John) Weaver; brother, Richard (Jana) Brown and mother-in-law, Claris Giles. He was preceded in death by his father, Maurell and father-in-law, Gary P. Giles.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 2, 2012 at the Mount Lewis 2nd Ward, 425 No. Jackson. A viewing will be held on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Relief Society room at the Mt. Lewis 2nd Ward building and Thursday prior to the service from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment in Myers Evergreen Memorial Park, 100 Monroe Blvd.
Arrangements entrusted to Myers Ogden Mortuary.
The family would like to give special thanks to the 3rd floor IMC Staff at McKay Dee Hospital. You became family. Also thanks to Dr. Gray and staff and to all our friends and neighbors for their love and support.
In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to help with medical expenses.
