Obituary for Vernon J. Shaw

ROY – Vernon J. Shaw, 85, passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2010, at his home in Roy.
He was born August 10, 1924, in Liberty, Utah to Lewis and Sarah Rhodes Shaw. He married Norma Allred on October 24, 1943, in Harrisville, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
He was an active member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various callings throughout his life. He was a dairy farmer but his greatest love was training and racing quarter horses.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 67 years, Norma and five children; Kathryn (Douglas) Seamons, Ogden; Jeffrey (Rosanne) Shaw, Bountiful; Patricia Hodgson, Ogden; Pamela (John) Atwood, Morgan; and Bradley (Cindy) Shaw, Morgan. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, a brother, and a grandson.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at Myers Mortuary, 845 S. Washington Blvd, Ogden, Utah, at 11:00 a.m.
Friends and family may call at the mortuary on Friday, October 22, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday, October 23, 2010, from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment will be in the Liberty Cemetery in Liberty, Utah.
