Our precious little special “daughter” Sandra Elaine Hood, entered the presence of her Heavenly Father Sunday, May 22, 2011. We know she was received in All Glory as she was a pure and chosen spirit. She was born in Charleston, South Carolina on May 17, 1963. She first came into our lives June, 1991, and shortly thereafter came to live with us permanently. She was born with many afflictions and handicaps which made life a struggle for her. And as we question why some are bound to remain children all their mortal life we must acknowledge that her bubbly, joyous personality enhanced our family in immeasurable ways. Sandy brought laughter and happiness with her and brightened our home with her goodness. We are grateful for the blessing of knowing her and having her as part of our circle. As she slipped through the veil to the next exciting chapter of her existence, she took with her a big part of our hearts.
She is survived by her Mom and Dad, Karen and Alvin Lundgren. She also leaves behind eight brothers; Jeffery Lundgren, Richard Lundgren, David Lundgren, Michael Petersen, Jared Petersen, Steven Petersen, Scott Lundgren and Chad Marshall Lundgren. She also leaves behind seven sisters: Jennifer Lundgren, Laura Enos, Shauna Rawlinson, Meagan Csokonay, Tamara Hofhines, Ginger Lundgren and Shea Heath. She has many nieces and nephews as well as extended family members who will miss her. She became especially close to Shauna Rawlinson, who was more than a sister. Shauna became a co-caregiver and as Sandy slipped further and further away from us, Shauna attended Sandy with great tenderness.
We give our deepest thanks to Shasta, Eileen and Britany, from Harmony Hospice, for their dedication and genuine affection for our Sandy. They became her friends and her day was always better when she saw them.
There will be a private celebration of her life at her home in Mountain Green. If you look heavenward in June and see the sky filled with colorful balloons please take a moment to say good bye to our little “miracle baby”.
Finally, we thank God for the privilege of having her as our daughter.
