Article Date:
4 November, 2011 (All day)

Our sweet mom passed away October 26, 2011 at the Family Tree Assisted Living in Morgan. She was born October 5, 1924, to Juston Peter and Isabell Robinson Allred in Osgood, Idaho. She grew up in Osgood, graduating from Ammon High School in Idaho Falls.  After graduation, her family moved to Utah, settling in Liberty where she met her husband, Vernon J. Shaw.  They were married October 24, 1943, in Harrisville and later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple.

They lived in the Ogden area for the first years of their marriage, subsequently buying the family farm in Liberty, Utah.  In 1960 they purchased a farm in Morgan, Utah where the family resided for 35 years. They spent their last years together in Roy, Utah.

Mom was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings throughout her life. She enjoyed nothing more than helping with roadshows in the Liberty Ward.  She loved her role as homemaker but also helped out when needed on the farm. Mom and Dad taught their children the value of hard work, but they also made sure there was time to spend with family and friends. She was always willing to accompany Dad wherever his horse racing took him. In later years, they traveled in their motorhome, spending the winters in St. George with friends, golfing and enjoying life.

She is survived by her five children: Kathryn Le (Douglas) Seamons, Ogden; Jeffrey Lyn (Rosanne), Bountiful; Patricia Dawn Hodgson, Ogden; Pamela (John) Atwood, Morgan; and Bradley Vernon (Cindy), Morgan.  She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.  Also surviving are three brothers, Grant Allred, Gale Allred, and Mark Allred; and three brothers-in-law, Gilbert Shaw, Richard Shaw, and Wayne Carpenter.

Norma was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two sisters, one brother, and a grandson.

As a family, we express our heartfelt thanks to Wendy Butters, granddaughter; Carol Ann Ferlin; Thatcher Brook Hospice; and the entire staff at The Family Tree Assisted Living Center in Morgan who took such loving care of our mom.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011 at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd.

Interment, Liberty City Cemetery
