24 January, 2014 (All day)

Duane Dee Stock “Dewey,” 66, passed away peacefully, Jan. 16, 2014, after a valiant fight with cancer. Duane was born on May 6, 1947, at the Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah, to Carl and Lucille Stock. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and a friend to all who knew him. He was a man of honor, trust and respect. Growing up in Layton on Park Street with his old buddies, playing and riding go-carts was a kid’s dream! Duane attended Layton Elementary, Central Davis Junior High School and was a graduate of Davis High, “Class of 65.” He majored in art at Weber College.
He was very creative, a man that could do anything! He enjoyed building; he built on to nearly every home he lived in. Not only would he add on beautifully, but he would update each room. He was a talented artist and professional guitarist. Duane loved playing the bass, steel and acoustic guitars. He also enjoyed teaching students and had many fun guitar buddies. Skiing was also a passion of his life. He was on several ski patrols at Nordic Valley, Powder Mountain and Snowbasin. All together he served 29 years. He received “Ski Patrol National Status” #5283; he also received several awards for life-saving rescues.
He married Holly Lake on Jan. 1, 1970, and they were later sealed in the LDS Temple. They had three sons:  Brad, Nate and Luke. They were later divorced. He married Marian Brooks on Feb. 10, 1983. They had two girls: Jennifer and Nicole. In 1989 Duane and Marian were sealed in Salt Lake Temple for time and all eternity.
He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as a Scout master, home teacher, Elders quorum president, high council and high priest group leader. He and Marian then served a mission for two and a half years in the inner City Ogden Mission. His last assignment was employment specialist for his ward, stake and the youth. He also was on the Morgan Planning Committee. He first was on the committee for three years and then as the chairman for 10 years. He resigned two months ago because of his health.
Duane worked for Holley’s Cement, Parson’s Ready Mix, Ideal Concrete and finally Geneva Rock. He started as a young man of 16 as a cleanup kid, then serviced the trucks, drove, dispatched concrete and finally served as a salesman. He loved his work, co-workers and people he met.
Most importantly, he loved his family the most. Duane is survived by his wife, Marian Brooks Stock, Morgan; sons, Brad Stock, Hawaii; Nate Stock, Farmington; Chris “Luke” (Melisa) Stock, Syracuse; daughters Jennifer (Jared) Pemberton, Layton; Nicole (Bryan) Durr, Farmington; and grandchildren: Kaleigh, Sebastian & Oliver, Saige, Kade & Jazmyn, Soren, Charlie & a new baby boy in June, Abby & Liam; siblings: LaRue (Robert) Ary, Layton; Maxine (Bill) Jackson, Oregon; Karen (Todd) Andre, Syracuse; Sharen (Mike) Peterson, Plain City. He was preceded in death by his parents Lucille and Carl Stock, Kent, Baby David, and grandparents.
A Celebration of Life will be held 12 noon on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014, at the LDS Rock Church Morgan, Utah, (10 West Young Street; Across the street from Spring Chicken Inn.) A viewing will be held at the LDS Rock Church in Morgan

Dee and Dad, we love you and we will miss the twinkle in your eyes, your smile, your laughter and fun sense of humor, but we are so grateful you are no longer suffering. Rest in peace and until we meet again.  You will forever remain in our hearts.
