Darren Menlove appeared before the county council on Tuesday requesting the council’s feedback on a plan his family is considering for Como Springs. Menlove’s family has run the KOA campground just north of temple square in Salt Lake for the past thirty-five years.
Thirteen years ago they considered purchasing the Como Springs land and developing the ground as an RV park, but the timing was not right. They are reconsidering their idea now. The Menloves are reviewing a plan to purchase the land at Como Springs and developing an RV park. They also plan to add a swimming pool for those that use the RV park as well as county residents.
The Menloves wanted to assure that the county council was supportive of the plan before they proceeded to try to negotiate the purchase and begin serious planning for the area. The council expressed enthusiastic support. Many long-term county residents have fond memories of Como Springs. The area historically was one of the most well used recreation areas.
