Article Date:
6 August, 2010 - 06:00

The Morgan County Fair Royalty contest was held Monday morning August 2nd 2010. Young ladies from around the county competed for the chance to win one of the royalty positions. The girls are divided into groups according to age/grade in school. They began with personal interviews with the judges, then on to present a short speech, modeling, and answering impromptu questions. The contest then moved to the Morgan County Fairgrounds where they competed in the horsemanship portion. The winners were announced at the Junior Rodeo that night.
Rachel Halverson, daughter of Kent and Robyn Halverson, was crowned 2010 Morgan County Fair and Rodeo Queen. Rachel was also voted by the other contestants as our 2010 Miss Congeniality. McKenna Lynn Hales, daughter of Ron and Becky Hales, was crowned 2010 Morgan County Fair & Rodeo 1st Attendant. Madisen Porter, daughter of Matt and Kellie Porter, was crowned 2010 Morgan County Fair & Rodeo 2nd Attendant. We would like to thank all of the contestants that participated.
We have a wonderful group of young ladies in our community that want to represent Morgan County as a member of the Morgan County Fair and Rodeo Royalty. They put in hours practicing speeches, modeling, and riding their horses. We want to thank their parents for their support, and all those in the community that were there to cheer on all of the contestants. We would like to thank the Morgan County Council members and the Fair Board for their support of this contest.
Thanks goes to all of the sponsors for their support – Contoy Memorial Trust for donating the gorgeous queen saddle that was awarded to Rachel. Shayne Watkins did the custom leatherwork on the saddle blankets for the attendants and halters for all of the royalty. Dee’s Farm Supply for the horse supplement, K-D Screens/Karen Haddock for the royalty sashes, and Diane Giles for sponsoring the Miss Congeniality award.
Congratulations to these young ladies, they will be representing Morgan County in the coming year at various events starting with our Fair and then parades and rodeos throughout Northern Utah and Wyoming. Come see them at the Fair!
