July 11, 1941- Morgan City and County are the proud possessors of a beautiful new combination fire truck and pumper. Manufactured by the Howe Fire Apparatus Co. of Anderson Indiana, and mounted on a Ford truck, powered with a Mercury motor, it gives us a piece of fire fighting equipment comparable to anything else along these lines today. It is equipped with a 500 gallon per minute pump, carries 200 gallons of water on the truck an is fully equipped with 1450 feet of hose. The truck arrived here Monday evening, was put through the National Board of Fire Underwriters test Tuesday, passed by them approved and accepted by the Morgan City Council and Board of Co. Commissioners, and is now in service fully equipped and ready to answer and fire call where needed.
