Morgan Stars Special Olympics

Article Date:
2 November, 2012 (All day)

We have had an enjoyable and exciting fall season!   On Saturday, Sept. 15,  basketball regionals were held at the Clearfield Aquatic and Fitness Center.  We had eight athletes compete in basketball skills and they all did a great job.   Swimming regionals were held on Saturday, Sept. 29 at Utah State University.  We had many athletes compete and place in their events.  One of the new events for the Morgan Stars this year was the relay.  We had three teams, and it was fun to see them compete.  All of the athletes are developing some great swimming skills and are proud to show off their medals and ribbons.   Most importantly, everyone had fun spending time competing with and cheering for their friends.
State finals were held on October 12th and 13th at the University of Utah.  We had two days of exciting competition in swimming and basketball.  It is amazing to see the camaraderie the athletes have with their teammates and the competitors from around the state.   It’s fun to see the familiar faces as well as the new participants.  Our athletes were also able to have hearing, vision, and dental screenings at the Well Care Athlete Center.
We would like to thank the many people who support the team through donations, as well as at the fundraisers.  We have many volunteers who generously give of their time and talents to help the athletes succeed.  A special thanks to the Winn Family for organizing the Car Wash in Steph’s parking lot, and to Steph’s for supplying the water.  Thanks also to those who supported us at the Movie in the Park nights by purchasing goodies at our booth, and Ridley’s and Harmon’s for helping us with ice cream, supplies, and space for the Root Beer Float fundraisers.
Thanks to the coaches and parents for your many hours of time, patience, and unparalleled love for these special athletes.  It is amazing to see so many friendships grow and develop.  We wish all of you a wonderful holiday season and look forward to the Winter Games in January and February.
