Candidates have begun lining up for several local government positions that will be on the November ballot.
So far, no Morgan County Council seats will have uncontested races. County Council incumbents Tina Kelley and Lyle Nelson have not yet filed. Incumbents for county assessor, attorney, clerk, recorder, sheriff and treasurer all filed to retain their positions, some in contested races.
Both Morgan County School Board seats will be in contested races. School Board Chairman Bruce Galbraith did not file to retain his seat as of press time. A local resident filed to run for the state school board.
As of press time, filing includes:
Incumbent Jann L. Farris for country attorney
Incumbent Blaine Breshears for sheriff
Incumbent Bonnie B. Thomson for county treasurer
Incumbent Gwen D. Rich and Candice Caldwell for county assessor
Incumbent Stacy Netz Lafitte and Janet Thornton for county clerk
Incumbent Brenda D. Nelson and Tina M. Heath for county recorder
David V. Sawyer for County Council District 1 (currently held by Tina Kelley)
John Barber for County Council District 2 (currently held by Lyle Nelson)
Incumbent Austin F. Turner for County Council District 5
Incumbent Ned L. Mecham for County Council At-Large
Roland Haslam and Ted W. Taylor for Morgan School Board District 2 (currently held by Bruce Galbraith)
Incumbent Mark A. Farmer and Anna Phelps for Morgan School Board District 4
Lydia Nuttall for State School Board District 1 (previously held by Tami W. Pyfer, currently held by Terryl Warner)
