The Utah Highway Patrol is investigating a two-car accident involving four juveniles and a Morgan County deputy at State Street and 100 South in Morgan City at 9 p.m. Monday.
Morgan County Sheriff Blaine Breshears said the deputy was headed to a call and did not have his overhead lights on when he ran a stop sign eastbound on 100 South.  Excessive speeds were not involved.  The juveniles were northbound on State Street.
A juvenile female had minor injuries, was transported to an area hospital and was released.  The deputy did not have life-threatening injuries.  He took a few days off, but will return to his duties, Breshears said.
After the UHP concludes their investigation, he Morgan County Sheriff’s Office will also conduct their own internal investigation to determine if policy was followed.
Although the accident is unfortunate, it is not unusual, Breshears said.
“As many miles as we put on our vehicles, it is inevitable that accidents happen,” he said.  “I’m just glad everyone is alright.   We have not discredited our part in the accident, and we will take any actions necessary.”
