The snowy winter weather is certainly here, it’s time to ring in the holiday season with the Morgan Community Choir’s Annual Christmas Concert.
The concert is at 7:00 p.m. on Monday night, December 6, in the Morgan High School auditorium. What a wonderful tradition for the holiday season! Beautiful music, holiday favorites, with time afterward to slow down, have some refreshments and talk with friends and neighbors.
The rumor persists that Santa might make an appearance! Families and children of all ages are welcome.
The choir will sing some traditional favorites like Mel Torme’s Merry Christmas to You, Mark Lowry’s Mary, Did You Know? and the stirring Hallelujah chorus from The Messiah, also beautiful less familiar pieces such as the ethereal O Magnum Mysterium by Morten Lauridsen and Of the Father’s Love Begotten, based on a 13th century plain song. A special treat will be a flute quartet with Wayne and Dixie Miller, Kelly Wright, and Janda Busson and also a solo by Jim Manning. Pianists for the choir are Karren Schick and Aimee Ferrin.
The choir was formed in 1999 by co-founders Lois Manning, the director of the choir, and Suzanne Carrigan. Members of the choir come from all over Morgan County and also the Ogden area.
Rehearsals are every Wednesday evening from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m . in the high school choral room and new members are welcome to join for the spring concert. Rehearsals start again in January. The choir has concerts every December and May, and has performed at many community events such as the July 4th celebrations and Veteran’s Day programs.
Hope to see you there, December 6 at 7:00 p.m.
