Morgan City voters cast their ballots Tuesday to retain all incumbents on the Morgan City Council.
Jim Egbert ran unopposed for anther mayoral term, while councilman Mike Kendell ran unopposed for another two years on the city council. Egbert received 337 votes and Kendell received 322.
Political newcomer Jaden Ingle, 19, unsuccessfully took on incumbents Ray W. Little and Shelly L. Betz. Little, with 48 percent of the vote, and Betz, w ith 45.5 percent of the vote, will each serve another four years on the city council. Ingle received 40 votes (5.9 percent) compared with Little’s 326 and Betz’s 309.
A total of 355 registered voters visited the polls, or 17 percent of the 2,047 voters registered in the city. The results will be made official during the Nov. 12 canvass.
Egbert has served one four-year term before being re-elected. Kendell was appointed in 2012 to fill a seat vacated when Lynn Mickelsen passed away. Betz has served on the city council since 2010. Little has served on the council since 1994.
