Morgan had a special treat at the County Fair.  Jamie Udell, Miss Rodeo Utah 2011 visited on Friday, August 5th. She spent time meeting those at the fair as well as participating in the opening ceremony at the rodeo on Friday night.  When Udell was asked how she enjoyed her visit, she shared, “I didn’t just enjoy it, I loved it!”

Miss Udell of Pine Valley, Utah was crowned Miss Rodeo Utah on July 25th. How has her ride throughout this experience been? Her journey has been nothing but a fast paced gallop.  Just after the Miss Rodeo Utah Pageant, Miss Udell was already on her way to Cheyenne, Wyoming for her first visit as Miss Rodeo Utah. Then the requests came in for her presence at fairs and rodeos.  Morgan was pleased to be able to host her.

“We were thrilled to be here. The Morgan County Fair was Udell’s first in-state fair,” stated her traveling companion and mother Beverly Udell.  “We traveled 7 hours to be here.  Pine Valley is in Southern Utah.” said Beverly. “We received a phenomenal reception when we arrived. Everyone was so excited to see Jamie and it was fun to be here,” said her mother. Then, echoing Miss Rodeo Utah’s words she shared,  “It has been an honor and pleasure to be here. While I always look forward to my next rodeo (Jamie was due in Heber on Saturday evening) I was sad that I wasn’t able to spend another night in Morgan.”

Miss Udell enjoyed the company of Morgan County Fair Royalty.  A genuine admiration was felt between the young women as they conversed with each other and had pictures taken together.

The title of Miss Rodeo Utah takes a significant time commitment, and Miss Udell has had to free up time to represent the state of Utah. She arranged to take a year off from classes at Dixie College where she is working on a double bachelor’s degree in Communications and Biology

She will travel the country representing UTah “We already have over 2,000 miles on this truck,” stated her mother as they headed home from this past week’s excursions.

Miss Udell is setting up the Miss Rodeo Utah blog, “Jamie’s Journey”, which  should be available for viewing later in the month. More about Miss Rodeo Utah can be found on the official website: http://missrodeoutah.org. Miss Rodeo Utah can also be found on Facebook. Watch her website and her blog for more information about her fundraising events as time draws closer to the Miss Rodeo America Pageant in Las Vegas, Nevada in conjunction with National Finals Rodeo, in December 2011. The visit from Miss Rodeo Utah added to the festive air of the fair.  Her visit will be listed as a memorable moment of the County Fair’s 100th Anniversary celebration.
