MHS Golf season off to a great start

Under the direction of their coach, Dennis Peterson, the Morgan High golf team started their Region 11 season Aug. 9, at the Oquirrh Hills golf course in Tooele. The eight varsity players that qualified for Morgan were: Seniors - McKay Kearsley, Aaron Babbitt, Jake Miles,  Juniors - Rhett Ballantyne, Garren Miles, Sophmores -Jason Bledsoe, Freshmen - Russell North, Braxton Ovard.
The four top scores count toward the team score.  Leading the way for Morgan was McKay with a 71.  Next was Aaron with a 76.  Garren and Rhett finished out the scoring with an 83 and 87 respectively.  Morgan placed second to Bear River in the final team standings.  
On Monday, Aug. 13, Morgan competed in the multi-region Northern Utah Challenge at Eagle Mountain Golf Course in Brigham City.  Morgan was the top 3-A school at this meet besting Bear River by two strokes. Leading the way for Morgan for the second straight meet was McKay with a 73.  Aaron followed with a 78.  Rhett shot an 84 and Garren rounded out the scoring with a 85.  
Morgan plays Thursday, Aug. 16 at El Monte in Ogden even as The Morgan County News goes to press.  Scores will be posted next week.  Congratulations and good luck golfers!
