Flyers are being distributed.... collection boxes placed..... sounds like a food drive, but more specific than the regular food drive. Ryan Millburn’s Eagle Scout Project is to help provide Thanksgiving for some Morgan County families. Ryan is working with Morgan County Food Pantry to accomplish this goal.

MC Food Pantry Director, Tracy Kummer, was very pleased to hear that Ryan wanted to do this for his Eagle Scout Project. He inquired how many families were in need, to make Thanksgiving happen for them, Tracy estimated,” 25 families.”

The flyers contain the list of Foods on the menu for Thanksgiving dinner, includes:

Turkeys; stuffing/dressing; potatoes/sweet potatoes; gravy; olives; canned vegetables; canned fruit; jell-o; cranberries(jelly); pumpkin pie, and money to help with perishable items.

Collection boxes have been placed at:  Ridley’s Food Store(formerly Jubilee), the Food Pantry located in the basement of the Morgan City Building and also donations can be brought to his home at 346 West 150 North.

“ All donations must be made by November 11th,” is posted on the flyers, Ryan explained he wants to have time to make sure he has a enough food for each family. He said, “On the following, Tuesday Nov 15th, members of his Boy Scout Troop 971 will sort and separate the donations into boxes at the food pantry.”

He explained the boxes have already been set aside for this project. Another group of scouts in the community will be contributing a hand-crafted Thanksgiving centerpiece for each family.

Eagle Scout  candidate, Ryan is 14 years old and the son of John and Camille Millburn.
