On May 19, Morgan County hosted Major League Baseball’s Pitch, Hit & Run local competition at the varsity baseball field.
Each year, tens of thousands of young athletes ages 7 to 14 participate in this event. Participants are judged on their ability to throw accurately, hit for power and run with speed. Winners continue to progress to sectional (all-Utah), regional and national competitions, with the top scorers receiving an all-expense, paid trip to the 2014 MLB All-Star Game.
This year marked the first time that Morgan County was selected to host the event. Congratulations to the 10 winners from the Morgan competition, pictured below in the following order:  Caleb Lunt (13-14 yr old boys), Karly Peterson (11-12 yo girls), Trevor Jarrett (11-12 yo boys), Nick Despain (9-10 yr old boys), Trever Weaver (13-14 yo boys), Kaiya Peterson (7-8 yo girls), Brigham Spens (7-8 yr old boys), Taryn Nye (9-10 yo girls), Bodee Wright (9-10 yo boys), Mike Haney (11-12 yo boys).
Each of these young athletes competed in the all-Utah competition held May 31 in Ogden.  Winners will be announced around June 10.
