Library has full fall schedule

Article Date:
28 September, 2012 (All day)

Can you believe that summer has come to an end and school has begun? As we can see all around our beautiful valley, the leaves have color and fall is here.  With fall upon us the Morgan County Library has lots of wonderful things coming up and some amazing events that have passed.
In October we have a few events coming up to tell you about.  We have our “Teen Week” Poster Contest starting Oct. 1 with the theme “It came from the library… :{ Dare to READ for the fun of it!”  Reading for enjoyment is such a great form of entertainment for teens and their busy lives.  Hey, it’s free, fun and can be done anywhere they are.  Our teens are amazingly creative, so encourage them to show it off with a poster about their favorite read, whether it be a scary read or a great whodunit with a twist at the end.  Posters should be 9x12 or smaller and labeled with name and phone number of the artist. They are due to the library by Oct. 20.
We are also having a silent auction of a few old books we think you might enjoy.  If you have a minute to stop by and take a look at them, you may see one or two worth placing a bid on.  Bidding will end on Oct. 13, so take a chance and drop in.
We already knew that Morgan County was the best, and this summer our readers really came through.  Our “Summer Reading” program was such an amazing sight to see this year as everyone shared their “dreams” with us and read the whole summer long.  With 402,900 pages and 16,180 books read this summer, as well as 2,880 prizes earned, we beat last year’s numbers by 50,000 pages.  We had parents’ and grandparents’ reading with our kids, and that was a dream come true for us.  Just wanted to thank you for a wonderful summer and thanks a ton for sharing your “dreams” with those of us who needed to hear them.  Hope to see you soon at the library!
