Letter to the Editor - New Ideas for Morgan County

Article Date:

Now that the Morgan County Government is less corrupt there are a few things I think need to be looked at.

First, the Morgan County Airport; this airport is heavily subsidized by the taxpayers. If the airport cannot be made self-sufficient, then it should be closed. It’s ridiculous for the taxpayers to pay for something so few use.

The second thing; The Utah State Extension should be made self-sufficient, the tax payers should not be on the hook for adult education and something so few benefit from. Weber State University is just twenty minutes away.

And last, the Morgan County Fairgrounds; The zoning should be changed never to allow a motorcycle racetrack, or any motorized sports. This land should be used to benefit the whole county. A winter and summer sports park would be ideal, and could be paid for by no longer paying for an airport that’s not necessary, and making Utah State Extension self-sufficient, or eliminate it with Weber State University being so close. A winter and summer sports park would raise property values and help local business. It would be a good addition to both Morgan County and Morgan City.
