After an enjoyable win on the 22nd at Bear River, a very excited group of Varsity players and coaches boarded the plane Thursday morning to travel to Southern California and compete in the California Volleyball Tournament.  There were 60 teams from all over the US that had come ready to play.  There are no easy wins in this tournament and we rose to the challenge to beat teams that are far better than any competition we see in our region.  Both teams the Lady Trojans played on Friday were very athletic and skilled.  The team was victorious in both matches winning 25-18, 25-17, 25-19 against Taft High School and 25-19, 25-21, 25-21 against Marina High School.  Saturday morning put them up against the host school who was predicted to win the tournament, La Jolla High School.  Morgan battled but lost the first game 20-25 only to come back in the second game down 18-22 to win it 27-25.  The third game Morgan was on an emotional high and won 15-8.  Feeling emotionally drained after a tough fought match, Morgan had no rest time in between and played immediately against Ventura High School and lost 15-25 and 20-25.  Luckily we were able to take a short break time and refuel before the next match against Maria Carillo High School.  Morgan was able to regroup and defeated them 25-12, and 25-21.  The final game on Saturday was against a private school named Bishop and proved to be a tough loss after a long day.  The scores were 18-25, 25-22, 9-15 respectively.  The Lady Trojans played very hard against some great teams with several college bound players and as always it was some amazing volleyball to watch.  Morgan came out in 11th place out of 60 teams and learned some valuable volleyball lessons.  It is a great opportunity to play against such awesome teams and to bond together as a team.  Nothing can replace experiences like this that will be life-long memories.
The team returned home on Tuesday to play against the Ben Lomond Scots.  Though tired after traveling it was an easy victory for all the teams.  The Freshmen team played at Highland Junior High School and defeated the Hikers 25-6, 25-16, 15-6.  Shaylie Duncan had some great serves and Kassi Nagel and McKenzie Schenk both added some excellent kills.  The Sophomores and Junior Varsity both played well and also had easy victories.   The Varsity team won in three quick games 25-10, 25-15, and 25-13.  Everyone played well and look forward to the game at home on Thursday the 30th against Grantsville.  The Team would like to thank the coaches for a great trip and great support this past week and look forward to finishing out the season with some exceptional volleyball!
