The Morgan girls basketball team played home games on back to back nights last week, playing 4A Box Elder on Thursday and 4A Uintah on Friday.  The  Lady Trojans were in complete control from start to finish in both games, as they beat Box Elder 77-36 and Uintah 87-26.
Against Box Elder, the Trojans jumped out to an 16-8 first quarter lead, and then outscored the Bees 21-7 in the 2nd quarter for a commanding 37-15 lead at the half. Morgans defensive pressure caused multiple turnovers and created many lay ups for the home squad. Morgan would go on to outscore the Bees 40-21 in the second half to win going away 77-36.
Ashley “Spud” Garfield continued her hot play with a near triple-double, scoring 24 points, hauling in 14 rebounds, swiping 9 steals and passing for 6 assists. Throw in 3 blocked shots and you have a stat line that would make AK-47 jealous.
Racheal Johnson had a great game hitting 6-12 shots, scoring 13 points with 5 rebounds and 4 assist. Becca Rees scored 10 and added 2 assists and 2 steals. Junior Whitney Morgan came off the bench to hit 4-5 shots for 8 points with 4 boards, and also swiped 4 steals. Chelsey Stegelmeier would score 6 points and snag 12 rebounds, 10 in the first half.
As good as the Lady Trojans played vs. Box Elder, in was nothing in comparison to the blitz they threw at the Lady Utes in the first quarter of their game on Friday night. The home team ran over the visitors in the first quarter, dominating for a full 8 minutes and leading 32-0 at the end of the first.
The Trojans let up on the pressure in the 2nd quarter, but still lead 46-9 at half-time. The Trojans out scored the Lady Utes 41-17 in the second half, giving Morgans bench players some good minutes in the victory, winning 87-26.
Senior forward  Ashley Garfield once again lead a balanced scoring attack with 17 points on 6-7 shots from the field, with 5 boards, 5 assists and 4 steals.
