IRS participates in local fund raiser

Article Date:
21 March, 2014 (All day)

The kick off for Project Linus started March 3 and will conclude May . Project Linus accepts donated new, handmade, washable blankets for military fallen soldiers as well as seriously ill and/or traumatized children, ages 0 to 18.  In previous years we were only able to accept blankets for children, but we are now expanding to teens, adults and families of fallen soldiers.
Blankets must be New (not used). Blankets (including receiving blankets) can be purchased or handmade.  All blanket sizes and styles are welcome including quilts, tied comforters, fleece blankets, and crocheted or knitted afghans in child-friendly colors.   Blankets must be free of pins and should not be scented, smell of smoke or have animal hair due to allergy concerns. To avoid this, wash blankets in vinegar prior to donating.
Project Linus got its name in reference to the Peanuts character Linus, who is known for carrying his “security blanket” with him everywhere.
There will be a competition between all of the IRS sites for the most donations as well as the most creative blankets.
If you have any materials or blankets to donate please contact Ashley Barber at 801-430-8921 or or Lisa Hill at 801-668-4898 to arrange pickup/drop offs. Thank you in advance!
