“It’s been great,”said Tracy Kummer, Food Pantry Director with Morgan County Community Services, reflecting on the past two years. She continued, “the support from the community has been wonderful! when the word gets out, the people really dig in there and help.”
“It’s that time of year for Sub For Santa, we need help with the donations this year.” stressed Tracy. “our donations and efforts are for Morgan County residents,” clarified the director.
“We love the donations, whether its toys, food, or money,” said Tracy. Her concern is because “there is a bigger need this year than last year.”
The Ridley’s Family Market is helping with the food donations, simplifying it for shoppers with $5.00 grab bags. The grab bag has various canned food and packaged items gathered in a paper bag stapled closed. Then after the customer pays for the bag its placed in a donation box. This started last week, said Tracy, already she has received calls to come get the food that had accumulated from the grab bags. The store will continue to offer this until Christmas. Tracy is pleased with volume of food donations that have come in thus far,and she hopes to focus on helping Santa.
Morgan County Sub For Santa, will have specially marked money donation containers, in various places throughout the county. Toy donation boxes will be located in the Morgan County Building and Morgan City Hall, to help for those families in the county that are need.
The Hometown Christmas Celebration is December 3rd, there will be incentives there to entice those to donate. Tracy will be there to receive your donations. She extends an invitation to “Help kick off a good December..we would love for all to come, bring the toys. So bring your unwrapped toys for Sub for Santa and receive drawing tickets for a big prize.”
“Very grateful and thankful for all of them that support and help give to the food pantry,” said Tracy.
