Smoke was sent billowing into the already cloudy skies of Morgan on Wednesday, May 8, after an accident engulfed a garage in flames. The actual cause of the blaze is under investigation.
The adult male involved in the incident was taken by ambulance to the hospital to be treated for burns to his hand and leg, but the extent of his injuries is not known.
The house involved is located at 1270 W. Island Road and belongs to the Shuldberg family.
There were many conversations taking place in the middle of the road, stopping traffic, while emergency vehicles were still en route to the scene. Residents should be aware that there is very little room for emergency vehicles on these narrow roads. Please keep roads clear of vehicles and pedestrians so that our amazing emergency personnel can reach the home in time.
Before the fire was even put out, there was a community outpouring of concern for the family. People were asking what could be done to help the family.
The Morgan and Mountain Green fire departments worked quickly to extinguish the flames and were able to spare most of the home, although there was clearly significant smoke and exterior damage.
The garage and its contents, which included a truck and an ATV, were a complete loss.
