FFA Banquet

On Tuesday May 3rd the FFA held their annual Banquet. The teams that competed in many different events, such as horse judging, farm business, and agriculture mechanics were recognized for their efforts. The Morgan FFA has received sweepstakes 19 years in a row. This award is for the chapter that has a team for each contest and scores well in each event. All of our teams have helped us to win this award.

Scholarships were awarded to two seniors this year. Shantel Watkins received a 250 dollar chapter scholarship and Danielle Morgan received a 1000 dollar scholarship from Barber Brother Ford in Morgan. 

The Star Greenhand was also awarded to the two members that went above and beyond in their SAE. The two recipients were Bryce Preece and Jessica Carter. Christian Andersen, Katie Spens, and Megan Stapley received their Chapter FFA Degrees.

The night was the last for the 2010-2011 officers and the new 2011-2012 officers began serving. The new officers are Nate Buchanan as President, Megan Stapley as Vice President, Katie Spens as Secretary, Shawn Francis as Treasurer, Jessica Carter as Reporter, and Christina Andersen as Sentinel. The new committee chairs were also put in, They are Marissa Morgan for President, Mika Preece for Vice President, Sara Clark for Secretary, and Jessica Larsen for Reporter.

Kim Preece and Amber White were awarded an Honorary FFA Membership for their help this year. The retiring officers also presented their parents with a plaque that had a letter or poem that they wrote. As expected there were some tears.

The FFA students wanted to express thanks to thank the parents of all the members for letting their sons and daughters participate in all of our activities this year. They also want to say thanks to their sponsors who have supported us this year and to  the seniors, Ethan Porter, Danielle Morgan, and Lakota Preece, for teaching and helping them. The students would also like to thank Miss Haslam for all she has done for us this year.
