Condoleezza Rice to headline

Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) announced today that former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will be headlining the Utah Women’s Conference the Senator and his wife Elaine have co-hosted for 27 years.  The Conference, “Discovering the Diversity and Unity of Women will be held on Friday, October 11, 2013 at the Grand America Hotel in Salt Lake City.
As the 66th United States Secretary of State, Dr. Rice was the second woman and first African American to hold this post and served under President George W. Bush in that position from 2005-2009; and as President Bush’s Assistant for National Security Affairs from 2001-2005.  
Dr. Rice is currently a professor of Political Economy in the Graduate School of Business; the Thomas and Barbara Stephenson Senior Fellow on Public Policy at the Hoover Institution; and a professor of Political Science at Stanford University.  She is also a founding partner of RiceHadleyGates, LLC.  She is the author of numerous books, including two bestsellers:  No Higher Honor:  A Memoir of my Years in Washington, and Extraordinary, Ordinary People:  A Memoir of Family.

In addition to Secretary Rice, Steve Amerson will be the featured musical entertainer this year.  A nationally recognized tenor with immense talent, he has been a featured soloist with major symphonies in the United States and throughout the world, and has been nicknamed “America’s Tenor.”  
The Conference will also feature many other local and national experts who will be presenting workshops on the power of early detection in women’s health; using new media in the workplace; getting ahead in your professional life; civic participation; health and nutrition; financial planning; and many other timely and relevant topics for women.
