Community Spotlight - Jennifer Vesper

Article Date:
18 May, 2012 (All day)

There have been several new additions to the Morgan County News and Jennifer Vesper is one of them.  She is excited to be a part of the newspaper staff and hopes to make a difference in the community through her new position.

Jennifer is new to the Morgan area.  She grew up on a farm in Farr West, Utah, and is happy to be a part of a small community environment again.  “My childhood days were spent running through irrigation ditches and picking up sugar beets that were missed by the big trucks.  It was fun for me. I didn’t even realize that I was working. “  In high school, Jennifer was the editor-in-chief of the “Warrior News” and spent many long hours doing layout by hand with wax and exacto knives.  The newspaper world has changed significantly since then, but she is thrilled to be back to her roots.

After high school she traveled a lot and then married her sweetheart, Alan Vesper, who she has been married to for 14 years now.  Jennifer decided to stay home and raise her four children and did so for 10 years.  During that time she picked up a hobby. Decorating cakes.  That hobby slowly turned into something bigger and she was soon doing an average of four cakes a week.  She ran Layers of Love from her home for several years before she decided to move her family to Morgan and return to the workforce.

Since moving to Morgan, she has been involved in the community and is a member of the Morgan Relay for Life Committee helping to recruit new teams.  “My big sister passed away last year from gall bladder/bile duct cancer.  This is a rare form of cancer and there were not a lot of options for treatment.  I decided at that time that I had been sitting idly by for too long and I needed to make a difference.  You never realize how important cancer research is to you personally until it is too late.”

So if you know of any news going on the county or want to advertise with the paper, sign up for a Relay for Life team, or just want to say hello, she encourages you to stop by the newspaper office anytime.
