Community Choir Welcomes Spring

Article Date:

It would not be spring in Morgan without the welcoming music of the Morgan Community Choir.  The music be the choir at springtime is a harbinger of the warmth to come and this year was no exception.  Lead by director Lois Manning the choir performed numbers both traditional and contemporary.  Their opening numbers included selections from Rogers and Hammerstein as well as selections celebrating the gifts of God.

After the intermission one of the most beautiful pieces of the evening was performed, Homeward Bound by Marta Keen.  It featured Eric Manning on the recorder and a solo by J.R. Hopkin whose pure tenor voice rang out in celebration.

The choir brought the performance to a close with selections from South Pacific that brought back memories and will have the audience humming the tunes to themselves for weeks.

The sonorous tones of Dan Reader were missed this concert as a  new voice was present in providing the narration.  Eric Manning provided the counterpoint to the music as he voiced the spoken word.

It was a wonderful performance and brought both the spirit of spring and the spirit of community to the auditorium.  The color and warmth of the music welcomed the warmth and colors of Spring.
