Color Us Bright Fun Run to benefit Morgan schools

Article Date:
30 August, 2013 (All day)

Help raise money for Morgan schools by coming together with your friends and neighbors in a colorful event at the first “Color Us Bright” Fun Run on Saturday, Sept. 21.
The Morgan Education Foundation is spearheading the fun run, what they plan on being an annual event.
“This ‘Color Us Bright’ Fun Run is a family-friendly fundraiser designed for runners, walkers and crawlers of all ages and abilities,” stated Brenda Crossley, Morgan Education Foundation president. “We invite you to join us in a unique, color crazy event that supports students and teachers in Morgan Schools.”
Participants going through the color course will be splashed with powdered color packets. As such, participants are encouraged to wear white shirts to achieve the maximum colorful effect of the fun run. Sunglasses are also recommended. The powdered color packets are based on food-grade cornstarch, and are 100 percent safe. The color run course is around Morgan High, Elementary and Middle Schools. The Morgan Fire Department will be on hand after the race to help hose down participants.
Registration fees are discounted at $15 per child under 12 and $20 per participant over age 13 who registers before Sept. 15. Goldenwest Credit Union will donate an additional $5 for each person who registers for the Fun Run before Sept. 15. Registration fees increase by $5 for participants who sign-up for the fun run between Sept. 16 and 21.
Each participant will receive a T-shirt, sunglasses and one color pack. Additional color packs will be available for purchase. Food will also be available for purchase after the fun run.
Funds raised from the “Color Us Bright” Fun Run will be used for a variety of educational purposes such as teacher grants. Morgan teachers can apply for grants to purchase additional resources for their classrooms such as books, equipment or electronic media.
Founded in 2007, the Morgan Education Foundation is an independent, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization whose purpose is to unite the community in acquiring and directing resources to enhance the educational experience of students enrolled in Morgan County School District.
Registration for the “Color Us Bright” Fun Run is available on the Morgan Education Foundation website at http://www.morganeducationfoundation.org/events.
