225th Birthday of the Constitution

Next year is the 225th birthday of the constitution.  Lydia Nuttall presented some ideas to celebrate the anniversary and educate on the constitution.  Nuttall suggested “American Family Night Ideas.”  She presented a proposal to the council for them to sponsor activities around the birthday of the Constitution.  She suggested that twelve stories of the constitution be shared, one each month.

Some of the topics she suggested are appreciation of flag, the Statue of Liberty and  Ellis Island,  why did your family come to America?, freedom of speech, the Revolutionary War,  forgotten stories of the signers,  principles of the constitution,  forgotten stories of pilgrims, and forgotten American Christmas stories.

The council expressed interest and asked Nuttall to come back with some examples of what would be sent out and how the program would work.
