Citizen Wants A Safe Street

Dear Editor,
The time was between 9:00 p.m. and twenty after that hour.  The date was August 19/, 2010.
I was out for a walk with my ever faithful girlfriend, that walks on all fours.
I’m just glad that we decided to walk in the direction of the fairgrounds and on the depot lawn.  If we would have decided to go home I’m sure we would have been mowed down. And who was this speed demon?  None other than one of Morgan’s finest.  I’m not sure how fast he was going, but it was well over the posted 25 MPH and I would guess it at 50-60 MPH and with no lights or sirens going.
What was it that warranted this type of driving behavior that endangered the children and adults and let’s not forget the safety of our four legged friends of Commercial Street.
The way I kind of see it is that it was careless and stupid seeing how about 50 or so feet there is a road known as the access road that has very little traffic on it.
And one more thing.  How about all these bicycles and sometimes a few scooters without motorized or not any lights on them or so much as a reflector on.  Let’s make sure everyone is treated equally and have the roads safe for autos, bikes, motorbikes, and pedestrians and their pets.
