I want to start off by saying how excited we are at Morgan Middle School for the start of a new school year. It is great to see our students and staff in the halls smiling, renewing old and making new acquaintances. We are happy that school has started and are eager to teach the children of our community.
On Aug. 24, our PTSO sponsored a Back-to-School Bash fundraiser for our school. The students and staff had a great time playing games and dunking certain staff members in the dunk tank. We would like to thank the community and our PTSO for their support. If you are interested in helping with the PTSO, please contact Shalece Sanders.
Our School Community Council (SCC) began holding their meetings on Sept. 12. All SCC meetings will be held at 6:30 a.m. in the MMS Media Center. Below are additional dates that the SCC is planning to meet. Our SCC elections have been completed and we would like to welcome five new parent members to the council. Those elected were: Matt Allred, Ryan Cook, Jennifer Vesper, Shalece Sanders and Ralene Blocker.

Morgan Middle School is excited to offer a weekly consultation time for our staff, teachers and students to meet and discuss how to help students experience success in the classroom. Wednesdays from 8:20 a.m. to 9:20 a.m. teachers will be available in their classrooms to meet with students and/or parents to provide additional instruction on the concepts that are being taught during the regular class times. If parents would like to meet with a teacher during this time, we highly recommend making an appointment with the teacher but an appointment is not required. In addition to this consultation time our teachers will be meeting in grade level and content area teams to develop common assessments for their classes. This is so they can review the data and see if students are mastering the concepts that are being, taught develop strategies to help students who may be struggling, and enhance plans for students who have mastered the concepts being taught.
A point of interest for your upcoming calendars is that MMS will be participating in our annual three-screen assembly by Camfel Productions. The title of the assembly this year is “THE PLEDGE.” The following was copied from Camfel’s website at http://www.camfel.com/pages/pledge.html
A powerful message on valuing others delivered in a captivating three-screen assembly!
THE PLEDGE will motivate students to make a positive difference in the world around them with their words, actions, and attitudes. Everyone faces difficulties in life; we all experience loneliness, frustration, and the pressures to do negative things like drugs, alcohol, smoking, or bullying others.
THE PLEDGE will challenge students to make a commitment to building others up rather than tearing them down. It’s a pledge to be part of the solution - a call to step up and make a difference.
If you would like to preview the assembly you can go to http://www.camfel.com/pages/pledgepreview.html
In closing if there is anything that we can do to help you and/or your student this year, please do not hesitate to contact us.
